Last night I was out and a guy had what looked like an Instroke 3 x 5. Yes it had the Instroke Medallion.

Well he had DUCK Taper Holding the Case together, as apparently it had Split along the back of the case.

Interesting thing was the Leather appeared to be a VENEER Glued to like a Cardboard. LEATHER was almost Paper Thin.....

I can not believe this case was a REAL INSTROKE, so I can only assume it was a Counterfeit.

If he was selling it I would not buy it. Only buy from a reputable dealer. Otherwise don't worry about it. He probably got what he paid for.. a good screwing. You see ripoffs/knockoffs everyday for just about every product that has a good name.

I seen a lot of CLONE Instrokes, but never a Counterefit. He was not selling it but I am sure wish he never bought it.... :(

While attempting to get some waranty work done on my Instroke, I was told that there are SOME instrokes that do not meet the usual standards of Instroke. From what I was able to learn, the ones that do not have the diamond latches may be of lesser quality. Fortunately for me, mine does have the diamond latch and has been sent in to be either repaired or replaced under the Instroke waranty.

From what I remember, when John Collins was the primary owner of Instroke Cases, he had a partner in Germany. Apparently they had a falling out and split up but his ex-partner continued making cases with the Instroke name but were not built to Johns specs. This may be one of those cases. From what I remember they were not sold at the Instroke dealers but came up on e-bay often. I've seen John working on a number of Instroke cases and they were deffinatly built very well. No cardboard that I saw.
