Counting inlays

OK so when you do an ivory / ebony dash ring, or any dash ring. Do the ivory blocks count as inlays?

What's your opinion on the best way to assign value to the rings if you do not call them inlays?

Just curious to everyones terminology in this case.

I don't count ring segments as inlays. Granted, when you make the ring billet you are inlaying veneers and/or thicker strips of material into another material. But, if you count all those ring segments as individual inlays, you're artificially increasing the number of inlays in the cue. Typically, the more inlays in a cue, the more expensive the cue. Therefore, you would be artificially increasing the price of your cue. By all means, push the fact that your cue has custom made ring work. I personally believe a Plain Jane cue with beautifully grained wood and great ring work can be just as nice if not nicer than an inlayed cue.
