Couple X Mas Sweaters

It's been said that "Burls are like presents on Xmas morning, you're not completely sure what's inside there until you open them up."

BTW all this burl is Black Ash Burl from Northern MN.

Remember when you were hoping for that really cool toy and it ended up being a sweater? Well these first 2 that I showed you guys pictures of a few weeks ago, ended up being "sweaters"..

When I cut them up, the one on the left didn't have any "eyes" in there at all, just swirly grain, so it became firewood.

The one on the right had eyes, but there were sooo many frost cracks (black cracks) I ended up with really small pieces... :embarrassed2:

Well I think I might have better luck with these two I picked up today..

The Emerald Ash Bore is killing these trees all over the Midwest so the burl is becoming harder and harder to find. Here is a decent pic of some other Black Ash Burl I have, so you get an idea of the grain...
