Non-conforming or non-compliant, as far as the 3-point rule goes. Some of us try our best not to use the word "illegal," as that suggests a BIH infraction.

"Illegal break", to me, means it was a "bad break". Not indicating BIH.

Now, a "bad hit", "bad shot" or "foul" would indicate BIH, to me anyway

It's like the Golden Rule. It's all opinion, until the producer tells us different. In my case, Pat Fleming didn't want us to use the word "illegal." I agree with Pat.

FWIW, I've always disliked the term illegal break. That it was hammered in by the Chinese referees on youtube only aggravated this sentiment and frankly compliance and conformity still seem off "genre".

I like, maybe "short break" as an official call and any other reference among friends.
