Cream Micarta to Yellow question

There was post in the Wanted section looking for older micarta (the ones that turns yellow).
So I was just wondering if someone know...
What turns the cream color to yellow?
Is it air exposure, direct sunlight, heat from the sunlight, something from the sunlight like UV rays, or just time (months, years)?

All the above contribute to it darkening up, but none more than time.

While we are on the yellow micarta subject. Someone posted a while back that the yellow Mason type of Micarta was no longer being made. Mason turned over sales of it to me when he quit and it is still being made. I just got a new batch of it and the white Linen based rod also.

Wow, I had no idea that Mason Micarta was still available. I got some from him in 2008 but ran out years ago.
