Had to pick up my grandson at his summer camp at the Museum of Natural History last week and we had some time to kill before meeting up with his dad back in CT.
Spent some more time at the museum (what a magnificent place it is), and I decided it was time for him to experience a nyc pool hall. So off we went for a beer, a Shirley Temple, and a little green felt action.
Took him over to Society Billiards where it was my first time, as well. Got to meet Jude Rosenstock who was most gracious in allowing Will and me to use one of their tables during what appeared to be a very busy 6pm on Monday. Happy to see the tables just about all filled up. Thank you Jude, and also thanks to the girls on staff who were so nice and helpful.
Finally, had to end it back on the upper West Side at the famous Zabar's for a tailgate-style snack before jumping on the Henry Hudson to head home.
Crocs, pythons, dinosaurs, pool, and a potato knish. I'd say we had a pretty good day.
best,
brian kc
