The real interesting issue, I think, is what is the optimum weight
*distribution* in a cue for a given overall weight and balance and length.
I agree with the distribution issue...which is EXACTLY why I asked you to take the weight of the shaft, the butt, and determine if there was a weight bolt or not because ALL of that affects the balance in addition to the joint. Changing one or more of those factors will change the balance immediately and something that YOU can control.
Anyone know what happened to cuemaker Tony Matthews? He was going to implement some weight distribution idea we talked about a few years ago.

That was posted on a thread here fairly recently. Supposedly a huge snow storm caved in the roof of his building and destroyed it and he just moved to a remote area of Canada without a computer or any more to do with making cues.
