cue ball damage

The White Diamond Tips DO damage the cue ball along with every other type of phenolic tip. I used a white diamond for awhile never thinking of it, you know cause they were advertised to be legal and non harmful. That is until I just happened to look at the cue I'd had been playing with and noticed the crescent cracks all over the cue. This sucks because that tip was fantastic for break and jump. I've gone to using the Gamma and the Samsara jump/breaks. Both are all leather, both break like monsters and both jump very well. I have seen NO damage what so ever with either of these tips. I would recommend them highly.

I have seen the crescent cracks on balls, before phenolic tips showed up. Apparently the surface of the ball can only take so much brutality, before the surface weakens. The ball isn't the same hardness through the ball, the surface is harder.

I noticed the same thing:frown: I recently purchased a new Action break/jump cue and a measles cue ball. Also letting my banger freinds use my break cue I have small tears in my felt.:eek::eek:

That is why I use a break CB on my home table. I also use a small piece of cloth under the CB on the break.
