Cue brand

A Scott Erwin or a predator SP depending on how good I'm feeling that day .
I have a JP with a Rouge 12.4 the jury is still out on this one it's very litely used with a linen wrap .

I'm shooting a New Sheriff cue with a NS CF shaft, 12.4mm, 19.5oz
Spanish bull wrap, curly maple.
I bought a second New Sheriff cue for my wife with his cf shaft. I liked the way hers hit
so much better than mine with a different brand cf shaft that I had him make me one.

The hit on this cue is so solid, It is my favorite by far.
Yeah, a players gonna play but the confidence a player has when playing with a cue he loves is hard to beat.

I like the ones that hit a ton and only have been test hit.
Lights out/monster hitters for me. Seriously the Schon H4 w/ leather and a 12.4 Revo. And why? Hoppe Bumperless cues play better. Look better. Smell better. And are so cool they are frozen. I like an expensive cue in case it gets stolen. I want the crook to have a good player.

You just need a case pet. This one would fit in a coffee cup. The branch is the size of your thumb:

There are players in my town that will let you pick the house cue for them to play with, crooked & heavy,
light or just beat up, and as long as it has a whole tip attached, they’d take you or me for all our money.

The cue never makes you a good or a great player. The only thing it does is motivate you to play better.
A cue we don’t like for whatever reason can become a distraction for us but not for the really great players.

Bottomline is this thread’s topic is arcane and better to just ask why do you even have a favorite pool cue?
It might be sentimental attachment, youhad it made, belonged to someone near & dear or something else.

Why do golfers spend $550 on a brand new driver or close to that on a brand new putter? Because some just work better than others, and it's always nice to have something new and pretty. In golf, I moved up 5 years in technology when I replaced my driver and it was like night and day, the new driver was so much easier to hit then my 5-year-old driver. In pool, I have a carbon fiber shaft on an inexpensive butt (cuetec), and I couldn't be happier with the way it performs and the way it looks. I feel I get better performance out of my game with this particular setup.

Aside from the addition of a CF shaft, pool cue construction has remained the same for many decades.
Unlike golf clubs where technology is the driving theme for achieving performance, distance and accuracy,
pool cues are designed and built to do the identical thing. Cues are very simple in purpose….stroke the CB.

Golf club manufacture revolves around technological advancements so people will replace and buy new clubs.
Pool cues are a different critter and up until CF shafts, cues have remained pretty much the same for a long time.

I got a Southwest I've had since 87 I used until I stopped mid/late 90's. A nice Joss I never really used. Starting to play again a little. Use a sneaky Preadator over a Mezz sneaky because I like the quick release extension. I like the Mezz hit a little better, just now used to the Predator. If something happens to it like disappearing or some damage, I'll still sleep. To be honest, my talent level seems about the same with all of them. On good flashback days I'll consistently run 30's to 60's straight pool with any of them. 2 days later I'm lucky to run 3 to 6 balls in an open rack with any of them. Who needs a rollercoaster.
Is the cue for sale?

My bar, friends basement with a pole and travel cue is a Seyberts 17oz 1811 with a revo shaft.
Hits good. I keep the good cues at home.

OB, because i got to meet allison fisher at a meet n greet and i liked the cue she had which was an ob custom. Luckily they made me one just before they went under

As long as it's straight with a good tip, I can play with anything. Actually seem to play best with a Players sneaky. Miss my Mike Irwin though

I don't even care if it's straight, if it's too warped I just point the tip down and find a spot on the cue to always have up when I'm shooting. I look at the tip and if I see one I like I lift the cue in the rack to check weight, if I like the weight I'll grab it and run it through the bridge hand on the way back to the table to see how the shaft feels. Sometimes I get lucky and sometimes it takes a few sticks to find the right one, I never check for straightness until I'm shooting.

Huebler guy here. I had purchased a Huebler a few years back and it just sat in a case, when the ex joined league for one session I let her use it but after a while I fell in love with the hit of that cue. Ex is gone and that cue is my main player when I play, best choices I've made :)

Maker: McDermott
Why: Fairly random choice made, in the mid 80’s, from the cues I could afford. Matter of fact, it was the top end of what I could afford. Have played with them since, because my talent hasn’t outrun their quality.
