cue butt extension

Is anyone capable of building a butt extension 8" long and around 3oz. which is very light weight? I have a friend who uses a JOSS cue and their extension is 5oz. which is to heavy for him. Carbon fiber or fiberglass would be much lighter but I have no idea how light someone can go or with what type materials. Solid black with be a good color.

Balsa wood is very light, I made a super long extension for a local player, worked fine. I did use Juma at both ends to make it more durable.
