Cue/Case ID

I got these very cheap. I bought them because I had never seen a case like this. I am not under any impression that they are of any value, just interested on ID's for future reference.

I am pretty sure the case is an old Brunswick and I'm thinking the cue is also a Brunswick. Correct or no?

Jeff the cue is a Rich cue. I buy them myself when ever availible at a good price.

I clean them up build a new shaft if needed and re-sell them at my Pool Hall.

All this style of cues were mostly made by the Rich Cue company from the Mid 50's until the company was sold.

Nice old cue in very good condition!

Thanks guys, yea the cue is in very very nce shape. Straight and screws together tight. The wrap feels like new.

The only downside is the same guy with his name on the case also owned the cue and scratched his name into the butt. Not deep but would have to have a refinish to remove it.

Never owned a Rich cue. I'll have to do some searching about them.

I just now noticed, after I put my glasses on :), that when the guy scratched his name , he also scratched a date, 10-24-68

No question - it's a Rich cue. Can't say where the case came from but I have seen cases like it in the past.
 
So does anyone know someone I can contact about this cue?

I would like an idea about value and and any other details I can get,

The cues listed in the Blue Book are from 1976 and this cue is from the early 60's I believe.

I have written Mark Kulungian (pool table magic) a couple of times but no reply. He is listed as a contact person for these cues in the Blue Book.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
I actually talked to Mr. Abe Rich yesterday.

It was a very unique opportunity to talk to someone who is a living legend who was making cues at the same time as Balabushka.

I didn't ask for him, he actually answered the phone. I was hoping to send some pictures down to someone at his shop but he said he would have to see the cue in person, he would have to hold it and look at it. Since I live in Illinois and he is in Miami, I doubt that is going to happen, but it was neat talking to him.

I thought some of you might be interested in reading a nice article about him that was in the Miami New Times. The article was written in 1996. Pretty interesting

abe rich's cues are different from rich q's. abe's company is either florida cues or star cues depending on when they were made. the cue you have , jeff, is a rich q made in new york. abe worked for rich q's for a long time before moving to florida.

i just took a look at your listing and see that you have all the info you need. so never mind. :)
