Cue case preference

What kind of case do y'all prefer and why? Being a minimalist and riding a motorcycle to the pool hall most of the time, I carry a soft 2x4 case. It easily fits all of my paraphernilia, but I see most of the regulars using these huge, hard cases that take up half their trunks. I really can't see myself needing something like that and have heard a couple of horror stories: the inserts eventually compressing to the point where cues/shafts get damaged as it doesn't cushion the any more. Another guy had a CF cue leaning against the table and tipped his case against it while putting his gear away, breaking the joint and trashing a thousand dollars as a result.

JB Rugged - hard to beat for looks, price and functionality. I love how snug and well protected every shaft and butt fits in the case, whether it be a 2x4, 3x6 or 4x8.

Is your phone made in America is your television made in America is your refrigerator made in America your microwave your American flag your Levi’s jeans your cars parts your kids toys your pool balls your cue tips . Why cue cases have to be made here too ? Only so people can talk smack about JB? It’s a theme on here when cases are mentioned. “American made “

Not only for price but quality JB Rugged is a no brainer. Currently have several its George cases, Fellini’s, GTF’s and other cases.
I love all of those cases but they’re just not really very functional. My JB Rugged 4x8 is actually not that large compared to most 2x4 cases out there. Big difference is the pockets on the JB hold EVERYTHING!
The strap compared to other companies is night and day.
Nothing against soft cases, in my over 35 years of playing pool the majority of cue sticks I have seen be damaged (case related) were almost always in a soft case. Accidentally drop a soft case and if it hits just right you may crack a butt cap or damage another area. That I have seen a couple of times. The other issue I see with a soft case is for a lot of people that carry a fairly valuable cue it really isn’t much protection from a variety of situations that could arise.

The King leather case in my profile pic. Has a JB interior which is pretty much all I’ll use at this point. Al makes fantastic quality leather cases, best I’ve had and I’ve had some good ones.

If I wasn’t going to go the custom leather route though it’d be a JB Rugged all day, they’re great and affordable. Actually recently bought a 3x6 one just for at home storage.

I also ride a motorcycle to the pool hall often. I have had a JB Rugged for about 5 years now. It's lighter than the predator case I had previously and I believe it has better protection. It' is comfortable to ride with and I liked the ability to customize colors and whatnot.

JB for certain. Browse their site. If you don't see anything that fits your needs exactly, you can have a custom case made. in any 'case' (no pun intended), you will be pleased with the quality and protection of the JB cases.
