Cue extension and wpa weight regulations

Maximum weight for a cue according wpa rules is 25 oz: http://wpa-pool.com/web/WPA_Tournament_Table_Equipment_Specifications

Does that include the weight of an extension - May a cue and extension together have a weight heavier than 25 oz, as long as the cue itself is less or equal to 25 oz?

I doubt that the rules were written with extensions in mind & maybe no one has even given your question any real thought...yet.

hmm in most cases not, but I have a 12 inch extension which is appr. 8 oz, so attached to the cue the weight will be appr. 27 oz.

I do feel that this extension is heavy, and it would have been better if the extension was lighter - it is made of solid cocobolo.
