Cue extension that screws into the butt end of a Southwest cue?!

So I switched from a Mezz cue with the cue extension that screws into the butt end by changing the rubber bumper to a Southwest cue.

Love the SW and dont plan on going back but I really do miss the extension the mezz had. The best part was that the extension being screwed on it was solid without any play. Definitely allowed me to shoot shots in comfortably stretched over the table.

With all that said, I really would like a similar set up for my SW.

Does anyone have something like this on theirs? Or does anyone know a reputable person that has done this?

Any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

Here is a pic of what it looks like:

Plenty of reputable cuemakers can fit an extension like the Predator or a Steve Dunkel extension on cues that have the push-in bumper.

Stev Lomax might be my first choice.

Lots of choices. I like the Tiger Extension the best, but it might look the funniest. I can show you what I did to fit it to cues without having to tap a hole. Shoot me a PM if you'd like.

Kim Bye, I already spoke to laurie and they arent up to doing anything like that... =(

sell your cue and get one that will fit an extension easily,,,,,,,,
go on vacation with the left over money.....:D

LOL I went away from a SW about 6 years and ago and now have decided to never do that again... SW fo' life haha

I've put the Mezz extension on my Cognoscenti and my Samsara. The Cog was a bit more difficult as I had to first drill out the weight screw hole. Neither cue had a weight bolt, the Samsara cue the hole from the rubber bumper was the correct size to thread for the Mezz X-Bumper. the tread is a M14x2 (Metric thread) Any Cue Maker should be able to do, probably just have to get the correct tap.

The less done to a Southwest the better. With that being said. The predator extender would be my choice because you only have to adjust the butt for the rubber bumper.
Hope this helps

Why do I think that fitting a South West with a cue extension......
....is like putting a trailer hitch on a Maserati?

haha this decision is purely based on the cue being a true players cue. The other types of extensions are awful and I do not have confidence nor much feel in speed when using them. Hell my fancy tighting extension is starting to get stuck and tough to take on and off. But I do see your point... its just I really made some critical shots with that extension when a bridge would of made it much more difficult...

Very simple to do on most cues with any type of rubber bumper--simply buy the extension/rubber bumper acceptor package from Seybert's and adjust THAT bumper to fit the back end of your southwest by either trimming the bumper to fit the cue butt hole or adding some tape to the bumper if it is a bit too small in relation to the Southwest butt hole diameter to achieve a firm fit. I have done this on a few cues with great results and you DO NOT have to alter your Southwest cue butt in any way.

Are you talking about the Balance Rite extension? I do not see a acceptor package.

My two main players used to be a medium weight Joss and a heavy Szamboti.
...a cue-maker offered to fit them with extenders....for free.

...I fainted

When I came to...I said "No thanks."

balance rite extension comes with the acceptor bumper-- I believe that you can purchase additional acceptor bumpers in case you mess up the first alteration. That is what I meant as a "package". I ADDED THIS BUMPER TO A FEW CUES AND IT WORKS JUST FINE

Contact Steve Dunkel on facebook or go to Dunkel Custom Cues or Dunkel Extensions there. He sells a set that he has a patent pending on that fits in bumper & a carbon fiber 10" extension that weighs next to nothing.

Steve just told me that if it doesnt have a particular thread then it cant be done.

PT,

What's your objection to the extenders? If the conversion only requires a new bumper, I can't see it having much effect if any on the hit of the cue when no extension is in use. I've certainly not noticed any, but I may not be sufficiently attuned, so I'd be curious about your thoughts. I do understand not wanting to modify a collectible cue, but that is not a "playing" issue to me.

I must say that I find the extension to be the most useful pool gadget I've ever bought. Might only be used once or twice a session, but being able to reach those few shots is helpful.

Gideon<---PT probably plays better shape and never needs an extension

Gideon....I must confess...the extension that was offered involved cutting
the butt between the butt plate and the wrap...with a telescopic rod installed.

These new ideas I'm starting to warm up to.....got an '86 Joss I'm thinking about trying
with the bumper insert.....Alex showed me one he's using....works good.

But my old cues are staying pristine...a worn brown original bumper on the '68.
