Cue extension

Ok, so english isn't my first language, so please bear with me for not knowing the correct names for what I'm about to ask in option 1 and 2 below. I'm sure you'll know what I mean though. Hopefully
Question is about choosing the best/most versatile cue extension and why one is better than the other:

Option 1: The kind you screw on, inbetween shaft and butt.

Option 2) The kind you "click on" onto the end of the butt.

Advantages/disadvantages of the 2?
I understand that it dislocates the "center of gravity" or whatever it might be called, but is it better or worse to move it forward rather than all the way back and vice versa?

An extension you can screw on to the butt is the best and easiest to use if you need a longer cue for a shot you can’t reach, like a Mezz, Predator or Pechauer extension, just to name a few.

Using a shaft extension for a shot you can’t reach requires twice as many screw on/offs to use, which is a hassle for yourself and for your opponent.

If your question refers to adding length to your cue to use for all shots, I can’t tell you the answer to that one.

Yes, I want those extra inches for added reach occasionally but since I live in a country that's retarded billiard wise I would have to get in the car for 4 hrs one way, just to see one in real life...
So, the question really is, I guess, will the butt extension (correct name?) feel more natural than the forward "shaft extension" when it comes to how the cue's center of gravity is located/relocated?
Like.... ehhm, will the extra rear weight/forward weight make a difference?

It’s still unclear to me whether you’re talking about using the extension for the occasional shot you can’t reach, or to use all the time? I don’t think the weighting/balance issue is a big deal when you’re just using the extension for the occasional shot you can’t reach.

Ah, sorry..
It's for those occasions that I can't reach and the bridge is "almost unnecessary". Not for use on every shot, so to say

i have both and i prefer the click at the butt type because i hate to unscrew my cue to add in the extension in the middle of a game. But if you like the balance and prefer a longer cue, you can leave it on permanently.

Another advantage is the one in the middle of the cue allows you to have different joints in a single cue if a custom maker makes different screw types to fit different shaft joints... so you can join a different screw type shaft to a different screw type butt.

Some of the butt extensions, like predator's, are light enough that you can remove all or some of the weight from the weight bolt and leave the extension on all the time and the overall weight of the cue remains the same. If you opt for a permanent extension like this, don't go over about 6 to 6.5 inches or the extra length will sometimes get in the way.

I have tried and made both type of extensions and the butt extensions that attach with a thread are better in every way in my opinion. They are fast to put on when needed, and the balance remains good as you will be gripping the cue from a different location anyway when you're reaching for shots. I like them so much that I have a 3" extension always on and have a Mezz Telescopic extension that attaches to that for those really stretchy shots. Best of luck finding an extension that fits your cue!

I took the part of the weight bolt out of my Predator cue and use the screw on butt extension full time. The balance is hardly changed but the extension is there when ever I need it. Mitch

Ok, based on a majority voting for the butt type, that's the road I'll go.
Thanks all, for the input
