Was wondering about what others do and prefer when it comes to cue extenders and custom bridges?
I will never use a house bridge again....ever. The condition of these bridges just suck and I will never scratch my cue shafts again using one.
So a couple of years ago I bought a Tony Ryan Oak Cue Extender (12" version) and it works great....feels like a cue because of the oak wood handle
that's the same diameter as a cue butt. It's the best extension attachment for a pool cue I've seen, even the Hagar extensions and others as well..
But the extension doesn't work for every shot and I didn't want to buy the 18" Oak Extension so I bought a Kamui Leather Bridge. There's no way you
can ever mark your cue shafts using a Kamui bridge.....all of the slots are perfectly round, smooth leather. It attaches easily to any house cue. However,
I found that the Kamui Leather Bridge's conventional design limits using the bridge for every difficult, extended reach shots.
So a few months ago, I bought a "JustaBridge"......Wow. This bridge is like an erector set and it's unimaginable to think it would not adapt to every
shot that requires using a bridge......and the felt lining protects the cue shafts.......it's amazing.
What does everyone else use, if anything? House bridge sticks just suck in my opinion....plastic, brass.....it doesn't matter what material it's made
from......if you play with a custom or just your favorite cue....it doesn't have to be an expensive cue, even just a favorite cue.........you owe to yourself to
protect it from needlessly being marred or scratched.
I refinish all my cue shafts using a cue wax I get from a snooker company in England and it leaves the cue shafts with a sleek, silky smooth finish
which allows you to immediately feel even the tiniest of scratches on one of your cue shafts. The cue shafts on my cues are the smoothest you will
ever find anywhere and the shafts remain that way because I keep them pristine and take precautions, i.e., cue extenders and custom bridges.
So what do you use? Have you gotten pissed off when you scratched a shaft from a using a crappy house bridge? Ever happen to you in the middle
of a important match and you had to change shafts.....Ugh. Did you have to finish the match playing with a scratched shaft? Well, it's a lot less likely
to happen again if, and when, you carry the proper pool accessories............Your comments are appreciated.
