I am about to spray my first cue with auto clear. Am i supposed to seal the cue with a sealer first(if so, what type of sealer), or do i just use the auto clear as a sealer.
The cue is bacote, and zircote, if that makes a difference.

It can be done both ways. Don't spray dozens of light coats. Spray your 1st coat, till you see it shine. Then when you can barely make a fingerprint in the paint, spray your 2nd coat. Never let your paint completely dry, before spraying your next coat. That will result in several dry coats all LAYING on top of each other, with no adhesion between them. I will say that you have picked a couple of difficult woods to finish as your 1st. After your paint has dryed you will see hundreds of little holes where the paint didn't fill in. You'll have to sand it down nearly to bare wood & spray again & probably AGAIN. By the way always wipe the Q down with mineral spirits before spraying or all of the sanding dust will create white specs in the grain. PM me if you run into trouble. GOOD LUCK...JER
