I have a full splice BEM into Cocobolo that I need some help identifying. I thought it was a Sly, turns out it's not. It has an 'S' stamped in the butt plate. 3/8 X 10 pin and a white phenolic joint collar. Any help from the experts here on who might have made it would me much appreciated. Thanks!

The pics aren't good, sorry.

Beautiful Cue

Hopefully you find an answer. Where did you find the cue?

I got no idea either, but looks like a real nice piece of bem though.

I hate the white collars though, shoulda gone black, like in the butt.

Damn, that's a pretty one. Cocobolo forearm over highly figured bird's eye maple? PM if you're looking to get rid of it, once you find out who made it.

The way the pin is cut, where the threads get thicker to come to a point, makes me think it is an import. Looks like they just took a piece of stock thread, cut it, and shaped it down instead of using a real cue pin.

I don't think so. From what I see, this cue is likely not an import. Besides, the pin has a centering hole. Even if the cuemaker machined that himself, it doesn't mean it's worse in quality. Some guys make their own pins, it is what it is.

That "centering hole" is very common on stainless steel bolts. I didn't say it is worse quality. Overseas makers don't have as easy access to actual pins, so they will make them out of bolts.

I've seen cues made by U.S. makers with the same pin (specifically, the tapered start). I'm hesitant to say it's an import based solely on the pin... Are there any other features that you see that would lead you to this conclusion? I would hazard a guess that it's a Bear blank. Very few makers do this sort of full splice combination.

Another thing that throws me is the S. I wonder is the mark on the bottom portion of the letter was done on purpose? I hope someone knows the answer to this one.
