Cue Ideas

If you could only had ONE cue.. JUST ONE. Describe it for me!! I'm actually collecting ideas for my cue, but I am just stuck. Cuemakers, your opinions would be greatly appreciated.

For me, either I'd do a ebony forearm and 4 ivory floating points, or ebony forearm and 4 ebony points. I do not know what ringwork and color of veneers to choose from.

Thanks to everyone here.

My one cue as far as my own taste of looks goes would be an ebony cue with really fancy ivory points loaded, abalone and rubies and would have a python wrap. I am building one right now that is very similar to what I just listed above for a local cue collector. He is getting a ring tail lizard wrap instead of python and a few less stones than I would put in mine.

My present playing Q has a Cocobolo handle, with 4 Ivory diamonds & 4 1/4" dots. The forearm is Fiddleback Maple with 4 Cocobolo floating ponts. Each point has an Ivory diamond near the bottom. The butt sleeve is Fidleback Maple with 4 Cocobolo ovals, each having an Ivory diamond in them. The ferrules, joint, butt cap & stitch rings are all Ivory.........TAKE AWAY ALL OF THE POINTS & INLAYS & I'D HAVE MY PERFECT Q. I feel pressured to play with a fancy Q, to show what I can do, but give me a good playing Q with pretty wood & I'll be happy...JER

Here is my cue. 4 points of 50yr old + Brazilian rosewood into birds eye. Stainless steel joint, lizard wrap and ivory Hoppe ring. I think mother nature does the best inlay work so I just let the wood speak for itself in this cue.

sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

I have a cue on order that is purpleheart with________________. I'm sure the combination has been used before but I have never seen it. Consequently, we will all have to wait until it is delivered at which time I will post some pic's. The purpleheart is the most figured that I have ever seen.

Beautiful wood with no inlays for me.
First choice is bocote but I also love coco and purpleheart.
Hmmmm! Maybe something with all 3!

Have you been peaking thru my window.

Not a cuemaker...but I'll give you my opinion. I like a plain forearm with some nice low key inlays in the butt. Forearm should be something with some nice figure in it. Really like maple with a little stain to it to be honest. Nothing overly dark, just something that compliments the wood nicely.

I did just buy a cue with points which is the first one I've owned in the last 6 or 7 years other than sneaky petes.

~edited to take out a line that should have had some humor, but sounded stupid~

for me it would be a simple and elegant plain jane with very highly figured wood...no inlays but trim rings at a b c d.The cue would be wrapless. No need for points because it would distract from the beauty of the wood(s).

I think this is an example of what you would like.
Just sent this cue to Asia. Cocobolo forearm and butt, wrapless, with ring of ebony, silver, diamond inlay above the handle.
