I picked this up at a Wichita pawn shop today. The tag said it was a Shurtz but I don't think so. The glue was no longer holding when I removed the weight bold and butt cap so I slipped off the sleeve. Sleeve and cap are plastic. 3 high and 3 low ebony points into rosewood. Alternating two dot, two dash maple ring at joint. Joint cap looks like ivory. 3/8X10 pin. 9/64 hex bumper screw. Linen wrap. Came with a non-matching shaft (dashed maple). It was cheap enough anyway. Any ideas? I'm guessing it's USA built but who knows?

There's no marking on the cue indicating a maker. If I had more time I'd have taken it by and had him look at it (I live two hours from Wichita) but I'm pretty sure it's not a Shurtz. I own one and have seen plenty of them.
 
Photos are really hard to see but with that stain, weight bolt, & acrylic butt cap,
I would come closer to believing it is an old Horn.
 
That didn't cross my mind until you mentioned it. I'm only an hour from Moreland. I can have Prather look at it. He'd know.
