Cue Lathe Tool for Tips/Facing" QUESTION//HELP

What is the best style of cutter for facing the ferrule of a cue prior to installing a new tip...
Should the carbide cutting tool be sharpened to a point,
OR
should the cutter have a nice flat cutting edge????

I've always used the standard AR style cutters,for turning to a right-hand shoulder.

I don't have a QC toolpost on my tip lathe,so what I do is turn the toolpost a little so that just the tip makes contact for facing,then turn it back the other way for cutting tips. Tommy D.
