Cue lathe

I agree with the choice of Cuesmith. I purchased a Mid-sized lathe from Chriss earlier this year. Very impressed with the quality and Chris has been very helpful after the sale.

Agree 100% - have had mine for 2 years - its a workhorse - I think the deluxe model is the way to go - it does everything. I have seen so many people get the mid range one and end up trading up.

I am a "newbie" owner of a Deluxe CueSmith and Inlay Machine. Had a hand biult, then a modified wood lathe, then The Unique Products Cue Companion, and now finally --A Deluxe CueSmith Lathe.

I just told my wife yesterday, this lathe is awesome, and will do anything with precision. I can tell you from my experience, that trying to get by with a "less expensive" option just does not produce the results that you will be satisied with.

If I added up all the money I spent trying to "save money", I have acually spent more, with a lot of frustration.

The Cue Companion is a great machine, and I still have it. But for a few $$$ more, the CueSmith way outclasses it on precision cuts.

Happy Sawdust Making to you, and good luck with your quest

I've had a cuesmith deluxe from Chris since 1996 or 97. I've hauled it all around New England in the back of my car for events, plus made cues. I've been pretty tough on it and it has held up with just a few minor repairs. It does exactly what Chris says it will do, plus it takes abuse. Right now, it is in semi-retirement cutting butts and shafts, with no problems. For the money, I don't think you can beat it.

THE PORPER MODEL B . it,s a good lathe and has variable speed with good strong motor,s i own 3 of them and have had some problem,s nothing major but once worked out there work horses!!! if you do some modifying there really the best out there that,s setup to start building cues i have one that work,s every day 8 to 12 hour,s a day for the last 6 year,s without a break down at all but it is heavily modifyed but has been well worth it. the other 2 i have one has went 4 year,s working every day without a problem other than a gear change here and there on the turn screw. and the other cut,s about 2000 passes a year are more on shaft,s alone not counting butt passes without a problem but i,ve made it into a cnc with heavy screw,s and so on. but i would say these lathes are worth the cash even with the change,s to make them work like i work mine. under normal use they will more than cut the mustard as they are and joe doe,s stick behind them as far as part,s and labor go,s at least he as treated me good.
