Cue maker team tournaments

Stolen from a FB thread. The premise is that the cue companies/makers put up teams in tournaments.

It's certainly an interesting idea, but not sure it would happen with Predator doing their own tournaments, at least for Predator. I would certainly be interested in other manufacturers throwing up their sponsored players in a tourney though. Maybe Mosconi style with 3-5 players from the manufacturer that entered represented?

I think this would be a great thing for the game as a whole and even more so for custom manufacturers as they could sponsor a small number of players to represent their brand.

No reward. Why risk your players losing and then losing customers?

Most of the pool playing duncecaps actually believe they will play better using whatever cue the "winner" uses. What company would be dumb enough to risk that happening

Many years ago MaGoos in Tulsa had a cue maker tournament custom builders . I recall Stroud Scruggs Blud and Searing . I am sure there were a few more but that was way back when .

So I think you could pull this off but you would need to have separate divisions.

Something like: Production (mass produced cues up to $1k), Production Elite (cues from production makers up to $2k), Custom Modern, Custom Vintage.

In Production you have to be sponsored by the manufacturer, in Custom Modern you likewise have to have a contractual relationship with said maker. In Custom Vintage you need to own the cue of said maker.

The other requirement I would throw in is for all divisions BUT Custom Vintage you can use any shaft you want as long as the butt is from the Sponsor/Maker. In Custom Vintage the butt AND the shaft must be from that maker.

I would keep the event light hearted but competitive. Think battle of the network stars from the 70's and 80's. So there would need to be a variety of games and table sizes.

I personally can't wait to see SVB and Gorst square off in bumper pool!
