cue makers can i get an opinion

Pictures are always tough especially on shafts, I judge weight, sound and grain, in that order. I have seen some 4 oz. shaft play like crap and some 3.25 shafts play great. My preference is 3.5 to 3.8 without an insert based on my taper and seasoning process and it also depends on the balance of the cue which ones I put where.

What Mike said but I have a feeling that that is still a summarization. If those were straight dowels then my grading on initial scan would be. Dowels 3,4,6 & 7 will be sorted at a higher grade than 1,2 & 5. But the grades will change for the better or worst as they go through the whole aging, stabilizing and turn-down process. That is if they get past the flex and tonal tests at certain intervals of the whole process. Most even get tossed while still squares just cut from boards.

Grading is performed continuously all through the processing of board-to-finished shaft.
