How often do you raise your price for repairs?
basic tip - better laminated tip - basic ferrule - better ferrule -
clean and condition shaft - wrap ?

I've kept the same price for ~ 9years.
I am thinking of price increase come Jan.09 !

I do not want to increase the price too much!

Say a Triangle tip from $10.00 to $12.50 ???
Does that seem reasonable?

If any tip comes off, I redo it for free!!!

Any input?

Thanks,
sax

I kept my price at $10 for several years on single layered tips and recently went to $15.

I believe it is more your area and amount of competition that drives the price of services more than time between price increases. You need to stay within your market. Shops around big cities can usually charge more than rural areas. You can certainly get more for your services say in N.Y. or L.A. than you could in Detroit right now. Of coarse every ones expenses keep rising so you can't stay low for ever. Some of my prices haven't changed in 15 years, others have. In the early seventies I was getting 2.00 for a tip that included cleaning and polishing the shaft. Less than two years ago I was getting 10.00 for a standard tip and shaft polish. I then changed to 10.00 for a standard tip but the shaft polish was 5.00 extra.

People understand prices going up as long as it is not too much. If you go to long without a small raise in price, you may have to make a bigger raise all at once and they may resent it. The main thing in business is, people understand price increases. What they don't like is paying more for less. In other words of you sell a sandwich for $4.00 and the cost of ham goes up. You have to raise the price. No one will say a word. If you put less ham in the sandwich and keep the price at $4.00 they will not come back.
