It seems that in general you have to try a cue in order to see how it plays and feels. With a production cue you can try the same model, but how do you do this with a custom cue that won't be built for some time? It's not really fair to a builder to finish a cue based on approval when it's done.

I was fortunate enough to have my cue built by someone local, so I was able to test hit it during the latter stages of the build process and provide feedback and he would adjust accordingly. I know this opportunity isn't available to everyone, but that's about the only way you can "test drive" a custom cue.
