I am a league player of several years. APA 8 ball (3 handicap), APA 9 ball (4 handicap) and Shooters 8 ball (3 handicap). I currently use a Players cue and have used a Schmelke (still have).
I wouold like to upgrade to a better cue. I need to stay around $500.00 or less. I am not interested in any fancy butts.
I have been looking at Predeters 2K and 3K series with the 314 shaft.
Is this a good selection? Is there other choices?

I recommend (as I always do) a plain jane or sneaky pete custom cue. You can find one in that price range or cheaper, and it will play a hell of alot better than a pred.

Chris Nitti's cues are absolutely AWESOME from quality to finish to playability to affordability.
jmho--hope this helps

Also try out Oklahoma Billiards at http://www.oklahomabilliards.com

Tell JW Petree I suggested you contact him and he might give you a better deal. I've been turning a bunch of people his way. He knows cues well and is reasonably priced. These are custom cues or he can get you many manufacturers at around 35 off list.

Good luck.

Rick Howard makes a good all round break / jump / playing cue for a reasonable price. Not cheap,,,,,,,,,,,you get what you pay for. He is reasonable.
