Cue storage near central heating

Hi

Recently I have rent a locker on my pool club. The problem is, the locker is located precisely behind central heating.

I store my cues there (they are placed in sterling wave case) and when i remove them from the case they feel warm. There isn't a lot hotter in the locker compared to the room temperature and I don't take the cues outside to cold but should l be worried about higher temperature in the locker?

I wouldn't want to have my cues warped over time....

In my view a warm cue shouldn't be a problem. A hot cue, on the other hand, would be cause for concern. Just keep an eye on it, especially during the winter heating season, and use your own best judgement. :smile:
 
The best guideline I heard for storing cues has always been this:

If it would feel uncomfortable for you, then it is uncomfortable (and not safe) for your cues.

If it's just slightly warmer in the locker and you wouldn't be sweating like hell, then it's probably safe for your cues. If it is unbearably hot in the locker, don't keep your cues there.
 
Dont worry about it.

Unless the Pool Room has humidification installed your cues will not suffer from too much moisture in the air. Heating removes moisture from the air when no means of humidity control exist.

A warm stick is a good thing. :)

Low humidity is not always a good condition. Get a cue fresh from the Phillippines and give it a sudden low humidity environment and see what happens. Even if you keep the humidity level the same and subject the cues to large temperature fluctuations within that same humidity level, the wood will move. Certain environments have low humidity, but keeping your cue in your trunk in Wisconsin winters or Las Vegas summers is not a great idea.

I stand by what I said ... if it is comfortable for you, it is comfortable for your cue.

I'm sorry John but you are fundamentally incorrect. Warm air holds more moisture than cold air.
I'm not saying that is a problem for the op. That is a question more related to changes and the time involved.
IT IS A FACT THAT WARM AIR HOLDS MORE MOISTURE, HENCE HIGHER HUMIDITY THAN COLD AIR.
 
For Pete's sake

It isn't going to get that hot at all. How high would they set the temperature, I would say 78 at the highest. It is nothing to worry about.
