Dear Cuemakers,

does anybody has a link or file with a measured CUE TIP ´s in SHORE.
Where different cue tips are listet with their truely measured hardness !!!

I`m already preparing a great list and need more details as many as possible !

Any idea please PN.

THANKS

I for one think the shore hardness of a tip out of the box is almost useless information. The shore hardness of a tip after being repressed and played with for hours might be of a little value, but even then it will not tell you how the tip will play. Shore hardness ratings will not tell you how the tip will play. The type of leather, coarseness of the leather, the way it was treated, and the type of glue uses to bond the layers decides how the tip feels and plays. Some tips that are way up there on the rubber durometer tests in hardness, actually play softer and a lot more spongey than tips that are softer on the chart. Triangles are one example.
So at best such a chart will mislead players into thinking one tip will play soft that actually will hit like a brick when broken in and vice versa. Muellers have had a chart listed like that for years and the tips playing characteristics most often did not line up with the hardness ratings.

Hey Cueman,

I well understand what you mean, right that is the reason why we make a complete new list, and ask for lists from other guys, to check for they measures done with normally Durometer ! THE MHI indicator form Mueller,
is not really a guide. It is only a trying to compare tips not more.
Our way we do is totaly different. We will not test with durometer (for rubber).
But we know that all testing was done with that. We only need this testing details to compare them with our testing results.

We prepare a new worldwide cuetip hardness list, and the indicators we get will be meassure with a special machinery !!! Which really indicate the hardness of stroke . That is possible we already test it, cause we are not measuring the material we will meassure the whole tip.
All tips are shaped in his right form (nickel). Tips will be put in our measuring machine but instead of testing the material with a neadle, we test it with a two site pressing tool, based on Newtonmeters.
Here we get two indicators one for stretch and one for ease !!!
And we test from different batches. So it will takes time to get a real average which nearly indicate the TRUTH of Hardness !

From this 2 indicators we will get a new indicator. A new kind of possibilty
to compare cue tips and other item. (Same problem Real stroke hardness of cushions).

These we do for our new cue tip shop which is still in constuction . Will be the most complete in the world. But it depends to many other things if we can realize this project or not. But the testing we will do in any way.
And these testing will be a important step, to the future of our business.
And a great help for many players and Table manfacturers !

I explain it shortly, in truth it is a little bit more complicated , but we strive
to finish asap.

Greetings

Sorry for my impatience, but is there any news after nearly 6 (sic!) years?

Kind regards.
