What is the best tool to use to position and hold on a new tip to ferrule. Is the porper as good as they say.

There is a lathe tool that helps center and hold the tip against the ferrule while the glue sets.
Unique Products calls theirs a "tipalizer".
Porper calls theirs a "tip centering tool".
Dont know what Hightower calls his but I think he has one.


Yes, the Porper is a good lathe.
Many custom cue makers own and use one.

If you purchase a video from Chris Hightower, Porper, or Unique Products, you can see their lathes in action and how the different cue making tasks are done on them.
It might be wise to view them to help make up your mind which one you prefer BEFORE you invest your money, as each lathe has its own "personality".
