I've been away from the game for about 15years and just started playing again... but I can remember when guys just shot pool and didn't obsess over low deflection, to soft a tip, to hard a tip, which carbon fiber shaft works best, what material a pool ball is the best... this is some funny shit.
All about the magic pill. The search for being a champion with out spending much time and energy .... Instant gratificationI’m getting a new shaft for one of my Viking cues and requested a 1”-1 1/4” ferrule instead of their super 3/4” ferrule. Waiting for them to email back something about deflection just so I can say “I’m getting a standard wood shaft and a longer ferrule, do you really think I give a shit about deflection?” Or I might pull a PJ from up above(page 1) and respond “What’s deflection?”
But sandbagger, seems like over 50% of the shooters nowadays at least in the area I shoot have some kind of LD. I don’t get it either…gave up arguing about them at this point. Shoot with what you like!
Don't even sweat this. Not enuff difference to even worry about.Today, there are all sorts of cue tips. My question is do varies cue tips affect a cue shafts deflection? I have been using a Kumui clear medium on a Tascarella 20 oz cue! It’s a stiff shaft and firm hit. Recently, a team mate in my league went to a Kumui soft! I tried it and ugh! Way too soft for me. So soft it would appear that over time it could cause deflection versus a hard tip like a Le Pro. It changed the entire feel of the cue. Almost to the point that his heavy stiff shaft at 4.4 oz was offset by the soft tip. My point is do soft layered tips compromise a great shaft that has very low deflection? All input appreciated!!
They didnt have internet forums either, and yet, here you are!I've been away from the game for about 15years and just started playing again... but I can remember when guys just shot pool and didn't obsess over low deflection, to soft a tip, to hard a tip, which carbon fiber shaft works best, what material a pool ball is the best... this is some funny shit.
dr dave says this
"Tip hardness (in a typical range) has no practical effect on CB deflection (squirt), per the info below."
if you want to learn about "per the info below."
go to his site and learn
Thank goodness! It's so boring that nearly everything we could want to know is in one place, provided by a trusted source, and neatly arranged.
So you don’t care if one rifle shoots farther from where you aim it than another? You must be a Real Man.Never worried about DEFLECTION,

lol…ever shoot a Flintlock using patched round ball.

Yep, definitely a Real Man.

only deflects when you hit off center .... a good pool player knows how to adjust for this. if you are having to shoot constantly way outside of center on the horizontal axis ... you are doing something wrong. So you don’t care if one rifle shoots farther from where you aim it than another? You must be a Real Man.

a low defection shaft is just a crutch
I see you’re a squirt expert.only deflects when you hit off center
A good bow shooter can adjust for crosswind - how many of them choose stronger crosswind?.... a good pool player knows how to adjust for this.
they adjust to conditions ...I see you’re a squirt expert.

But they don’t prefer worse conditions.they adjust to conditions ...
So now it’s about the cost, not the desirability?…for many the return in price of CFDhaft is.
So now it’s about the cost, not the desirability?
Make up my mind.
