Cue Wax

I don't use wax. I think a clean cue and clean, dry hands solve the majority of non-slippery shaft issues.

For an annual or bi-annual deep clean: Mr. Clean Magic Eraser + a little 90% rubbing alcohol.

For an after-session wipedown: a paper towel + a dab of 90% alcohol

For mid-session cleanup: paper towel + a sprinkle of water on it


I always rub vigorously until I feel a little heat build up. I always use just a little bit of liquid, no need to pour or douse! Just use a tiny bit.

I've used Karseal Cue Wax for years. It's made with a No. 1 Carnuba wax. It makes the shaft extremely smooth and slick, and it holds up even in the heavy humidity here in Dixie. It comes in a flat can like shoe polish. I liked it so much that I bought 6 cans years ago, and still have 3 left unused; so it's a good buy. I suppose Mueller's has it, or one of the other suppliers.

Carnuba.

You've got to get it nice and hot.

And I don't care who you (general) are, cues get dirty regardless of cleaning hands. Start with a clean cue, and then after just one session of pool, clean it again with white paper towel and denatured alcohol. You'll see just how much chalk gets on your cue just after one use.

I've used both Karseal and Q Wax with good results. Both of these products are Carnuba wax. Just be sure to buff/burnish until you feel some heat.
