well i find it pretty odd that someone who is so busy has so much time to monitor and post his oe their opinions on cuemaking on here ....i guess its not hard to find time when you have someone else making your cues for you in your shop.....but there are many other great cuemakers out there that command a much higher price for there cues that are willing to talk to you about cuemaking if you just ask them in a respectfull way...just dont want certain people to think they are the only ones that know about cue making .....people should take time to get out and ask around instead of taking advice from someone who is just trying to push their products and ideas on others .......people please dont believe the hype, many great makers out there .......take care all......juston

Gentlemen, you are correct in stating that there are a lot of great cuemakers out there. How many of them do you see posting their methods here? Try and call Bill Stroud and ask him how to make a cue. For that matter, call em all. You might be surprized. All they want to do is sell you a cue, or design you a special cue. Not a word about their methods! They all don't do it the same way. You would be surprised to know who made the machinery and taught Russ Espiritu, Dan Dishaw, the guy at Colorado cues, and many others. You would be surprized to know who Dan Janes goes to when he needs a new piece of machinery. Just because you have bumped dick heads with someone, doesn't mean you need to find round about ways to try and stick it to them. Have the BALLS to say exactaly what you have to say about someone. Don't try and start any bull with me. I am saying, you don,t have a clue about what you are talking about. So why don't you keep your negative thoughts and ideas to yourself. I think everyone on the board is getting tired of all of your BS. If you don't have anything good to say about someone, or anything constructive to add, don't say anything at all. As far as cuemaking is concerned, almost all of them have someone helping them. They don't have twenty five years experience at it like some others do. The good ones make a good sixty or seventy thousand a year helping. They don't stay with a guy because he is a jerk SOB. We all can be wrong at times. Would you like to be held accountable for every time you said something out of line in your life. I don't think so! You sound so full of hate and anger man, that is not good for your health. Why can't you let it go and get on with your lifes.
God Bless, Don Purdy

Purdman,

I think it was just getting a little slow on the board here and someone just wanted to stir up the fire again. This isn't worth the time and effort to respond to. I wouldn't have at all except I saw your post. Take care Don.

information is information.

Like always PTM, YES you did miss the point!!!!!! Maybe if you would empty your mind of all the hate, rejection, anger, pain, and suffering you have packed into that heart of yours, you might get the point one day. You can't win the race carrying around two hudge bags of yesterday with ya. Let it go and your life will really take off. You can be who you were really meant to be. Not who they told you you were. There is a very talented, loving, compassionate, and creative person in there. He wants to get out bad, I can tell from your posts. I am not angry at ya man, I believe every human being should be treated with dignity and respect. I will treat you that way and would appriciate it if you would do the same to everyone on this board. After all, we are all God's children no matter where we are on our journey.
God Bless, Purdman

Rickw, that be my job man. Thanks though! Thats one thing about knowing, you got to share it. Try and plant the seed. If he don't get it, maybe someone else will. Let him who has ears, hear. You know where I am comming from. I know who I am, for that matter, I know who we all are. Keep searching dude and it will come to you too. He turns no one away. Always knocking on the door. Most people are afraid to open it. There are many roads home, we are all on one of them.

Easy Don......just agreeing with the first poster. Sure seems like a certain cuemaker here sure has alot of time to post here.......instead of making cues. And pushing his opinion on everybody....with a closed mind! Not open to anybody elses thoughts or opinions........except to berate them.

the cuemaker doesn't have to ball and chain himself to his shop. and if he's opinionated, i think most people here are savy enough to discern what he is saying,,,,,and those who aren't can benefit from at least some knowledge they didn't have before.

hey,,,,where else are you going to have access to all this info.

True......16 years ago I called a good cue maker at the time. We talked for hours, and he said I could drive over and see his shop. You would be surprised what they will tell you......if they have any personality and people skills. But anyway....I drove 4 hours to this guys town......and was very disappointed at what I saw. He had a panel van full of junk it seemed. He had one wore out metal lathe and some misc. other crap......but he made cues outta this thing. As disappointed as I was there were still things to be learned. All info is good........just have to be able to decipher it correctly.

absolutely....craig peterson, made cues out of his garage with an AC unit, a dehumidifier, a rental lathe, a router and some x-acto blades.

When you make the machinery, create the programs, do the inlay, purchase the materials, pack it up and make it to all the big shows to sell your creations, plus go on line and try and help people who have a passion for cues, who cares if all you do is push a button and monitor things. Most of em do it that way. I know some don't, but most do. I learn a lot from everybody here and am glad for it.

PTM, my friend, people need to learn how to agree to disagree. I don't agree with everything people post on here. Like the crap some like to lay on Keith McCready. He is a friend of mine. He is one of the most entertaining and talented people I have met in 53 years on this planet. They slam him all the time. He likes to drink beer and has probably abused substances just like most of us who grew-up in the 60's. Say thet hate him for it. If thats the case, they must hate me too. That is not what this forum is for. It's for exchanging ideas and knowledge. Helping one another, not bashing one another. Some people are not very articulate, and some of us can't spell or play nine ball very well, like me for example. One hole, 14-1, golf, banks, and eight ball is another story. I have been so busy fixing up my friends cues that my game has gone to hell. Man, I am a certified BCA instructor. Probably take me a month to get it back together, if not longer. I don't want to argue with anybody about who makes the best cue. I know what I like and you know what you like. If we differ, do you want to fight. That's the way life is. I try to help and enlighten the people I meet, no matter where it is. I don't feel like I am wasteing my time right now. I truly care about you and every other human on the planet. Hope you understand that.
God Bless, Don P.

Didn't mean to get anything started. I think Keith is a great dude. I have avoided reading anything in the post I saw on here about him....just as not to get in a pissing match about it. I think Kieth is a great dude. I have met him once or twice....and he was entertaining. Noone has lived a perfect life. I know stories about some socalled great players.....that they wish weren't true. Sorry if I got ya mad Don. Didn't mean to. My statement above was a general one.

IMO, the best cue makers are the perfectionists who learn and evolve into being artists. These are the ones who sometimes have problems with people skills. Eccentric. They rest when they want to rest and make when they want to make. They also post when they want to. They work best when inspired, and stay away from producing sneaky petes.

One of these guys is Bandido. Check out the cue gallery in the AZ forum. Check out the most number of posts. This guy has made less than 600 cues since 1986.

Take note - I'm not saying he is the best, but he is darn good and his cues play well.

I find the first post as extremely arrogant and ignorant. I'm sorry, buddy, but slamming a cuemaker for posting is simply irritating.
