Thanks to all it's been a long time coming. It's been tough on the selection of cuemakers.

Cuemasters @ 100% and moving ahead,[ rock on],,,,,

Wow, what an exciting week or two this has been.
[sprint, loves me]..

Thanks to one and all. It's been a tough time selecting cuemakers. A lot of fine craftsman to choose from. This club, has been in the works for a long long time. Truly a dream come true. This last week has been really tough.
The selection process is over now, and were up and running. Many thanks to our members who have shown me a great deal of respect, following my lead.

Hi Laura,

Several cuemakers, in the ACA and also independants, were looked at very close. It was narrowed down to the 12 that are listed, below, and all spots were taken, first time out.

Again, the 12 members are,

Dan Janes, Bill Schick, Tim Scruggs, Dave Kikel, Joe Porper, Mike Webb, Chris Nitti, Nat Green, Judd Fuller, Paul Mottey, Andy Gilbert, and me.
thanks for your interest.

seen like some of the big names are off the list..

Snookered <=== wondering where is Ernie, Tascarella, B Szamboti, Hercek.. etc

I'm pretty sure choosing only 12 of all the cue makers out there was a difficult and lengthy process. The 12 were chosen for many reasons and I'm sure Blud had certain criteria that had to be met by each cue maker he was thinking of. Each criteria was probably placed in order of most precident to least precident. So who you see listed is just 12 of the cue makers and as Blud said, this is in no way degrading all other cue makers nor the ACA. He also mentioned that some of the "Cue Masters" are members of and on the board of the ACA!
Great Job Blud!

are these 12 cuemakers listed here, because they paid to belong to this association?

Do these Cue makers make CNC Inlaid Cues or hand made inlays?

Do these Cuemakers make Production Cues or are they listed here, because of their Custom Cue work?

Can the criteria, for selecting these Cuemakers, be made public?

I'm looking to contract some Break Cues & market them under the BreakRAK name... can you folks give me some direction here?

Ceebee- I'll be getting in touch with you just after the New Year to order a BreakRackII. Just as we discussed a month ago!

I think Gilbert makes a jump/break cue, but not 100% positive.

Not that I am authority here either.
But, I hope Blud doesn't take these questions/inquiries the wrong way.
But, Blud, with all due respect, does Nat Green of South East cues rightfully belong in this group of cuemasters?

I may be wrong but I believe Bluds son also makes SouthEast cues. I have personally never played with one so I have no opinion on them.

Are they custom or production?

Dave

Here we go,

None of the "MEMBERS" listed make inlays "by Hand". No such thing, this day and time within our group..

Some use the old style panamill machines, in which, the worker sits for hours on end moving a stylist pin and arm around a female or male patter. Some use CNC.........Some, use both types of machines and several old and new methods...

Using CNC machinery, the points and pockets is done the same way as using a Panamill, , but the operator can draw a pattern in his "CAD" program, and place his work in the same type jig, and push start. He then can do other work while the machine is cutting out the parts, or female pockets.

Then we all have to scrape, and clean the pockets and parts,[ prep them] , after either of these machining methods are used. The human still cleans the work and glues in the parts, hands on. The CNC, just saves time.

South East Cues, is owned by Nat Green. My son Donald works for him. Donald is not an owner, he's just a worker.

Nat, purchased machinery from me about 10 years ago. he has been doing really good work for quite a spell. He was in Chicago, a couple of weeks back, and had a complete set of cues, valuved at $70,000.00............. The one playing cue was $50,000.00 alone. [ I understand he has a customer who interested in making it one of his many collectable cues].....Real nice clean work. Nat builds CNC, and old style VEE points. Nat started out building "VEE" points years ago. They are all custom cues. Nat is also, a hell of a player....

None of the members "PAID", to belong to this club. They were hand selected based on there dealings with the public, workmanship and all building cues from there hearts.

Paying to bein this club, would be like paying a player to talk good about your product. Doing that [paying someone], would not be coming from the heart.......

We have no "dues", as the other club has. Being small we have no meetings, no "B***S***", just a couple of rules, they are, it takes two members to place a name on the ballot, provided we have a vacant spot. It then will take 100% of the membership to vote a new member in. It will take 80% of the members to vote a member out of the club. Real simple. no rules, just right.....

My good friend, Dan Janes of Joss Cues Ltd. builds production cues for the most part. Dan, also builds several high end "CUSTOM" cues each year.
Dan has been a driving force behind pool for over 35 years. He's one of the best guys you would ever meet. One hell of a craftsman, he bring a lot of respect with him to our group.

All of our members are here because of his workmanship. This is simular to any club or group, some are better craftsman than others, but we all do good work. And "all" have great playing cues.

Most of us do have helpers in our shops. Just as most have a muilty-head lathe to turn cut shafts and or butts. Does this make them production shafts and butts? Don't think so.

CRITERIA, can it be listed here. not all, because I wish not to hurt any cuemakers who may read this. I hope you understand. Thanks for that.......

Machinery, all of us listed in one way or another, have some auotmated machinery. This does not single one out as production or custom. just good business.......

No ones feelings have been hurt.
I hope this clears up your questions...

My company, Barton Designs, does private label cues, cases and other products to your specifications. Feel free to email me at barton@instroke.com or call me at 479-331-3039. References and portfolio available on request.

BTW, John Barton, is a good friend of mine. He does really good work.

John has been commisioned by me to build the "CUE CASE" that will be the home of GRADY'S, $25,000.00 plus cue and case.
The case will be high dollar.
good luck, John.

My spelling sucks...........

I am really glad that Joe Porper is included in your group. He certainly has contributed to the artistry of the cue.

While there are many talented cue makers out there, I wish you would consider Paul Huebler for your group in the future. He has a great and long history as both a custom and production cue maker, and I don't think he's been given the proper recognition he deserves from the industry. As far as I know, he's not in the ACA either.

Good luck to you,

Chris
