I need a couple of cues for guests (if they do not have there own) and I was wondering if I would be wasting my money on a couple of Elite snooker cues?

Just get some Dufferin house cues. When the guests leave, you can have the Dufferins converted to 2-piece cues, or not.

What is a source for Dufferin snooker cues? - as I understand it Dufferin (a Canadian company) is out of business at least as far as tables go.

The Elite are not a good idea. I cannot recommend them.

Riley and the Cannon line from Peradon are nice for the money. Inexpensive but still good quality.
You can get 1-piece house cues from Peradon and Riley as well. Might be tricky to find.

I also agree that the Dufferin are a good choice.

Get a decent cue for xxxx sake!

Hell inviting someone round to play snooker and then giving them a crappy cue as mentioned is no different to inviting them round for a meal and serving it to them in the dogs bowl out back while you sit At the dining table with the missus's best china.

Thanks Wity, tell me how you really feel:D

There are some Dufferin 1 piece cues for sale locally and if the seller will bring them by (he already sold his table) and they roll flat I will probably buy them:smile:

I know when I post here I will always get the correct answer:embarrassed2:

I have a no name cue that I bought when I lived in Ottawa Canada 35 years ago and it still rolls flat. It is 60 inches long , jointed at about the mid point linen wrapped, quite heavy probably 21 ounces and it has a fat tip 11-12 mm (fairly soft)plus a 4 or 5 warped one peice Riley cues that are not even spliced:embarrassed2:

I definately have to up grade but I just cannot bring myself to spend the required $ on something sight unseen and untried.

There is not a snooker cue selection here in Raleigh NC and the cues for sale here on AZ do not appeal to me except for the odd Peradon offering but again that is buying a 'pig in a bag'.

I guess I will wait until I visit Toronto again and spend some time looking for cue equipment.

If you go to Toronto, I can highly recommend that you go see Mr. Billiard in Mississauga. You can find it easily, www.mrbilliard.com ; they do more than snooker so type what you are looking for in the search box or call and ask for John. I was just there a few weeks ago and met the owner...great guy. In the last year, I have set up the best publicly available snooker table in Chicago as the ACES Snooker Club and I have been concerned about my maintenance needs as it is a veritable desert around here as far as anything snooker is concerned. I had to go to Toronto for business anyway and literally stumbled across Mr. Billiard right down the block from my customer. Any issues that come up with my table, I now have a place to go and shipping is no big deal. I can't vouch for his supply of cues, but it's nice to have a contact for any needs that one may have and it looks like you have a nice set up there and will want to keep it that way.

Good luck.

If you are coming to Toronto, Mr. Billiard has a big showroom and warehouse. You will probably need a vehicle to get there. A sponsor of the Canadian Cue Sports Championships.

F G Bradley
http://www.fgbradleys.com/
stores are accessable by transit, in a couple of major shopping centres, but these stores won't have the full catalog selection.

I use both, and Bradley's has overhauled the tables I play on.

Hallmark Billiards
http://www.hallmarkbilliards.com/
is the Brunswick distributor.

Mr Billiard, FG Bradley's Sherway store, and Hallmark are all in the same general area. You could visit them all in half a day.
