Cues vs watches

Skins. Why don't you post some pictures of your watches. Why talk about it and not be about it yourself?

Actually I think cues and watches go perfectly together. They both encompass great workmanship, intricate detail, and a pleasure to own. For example, enjoy the Rolex Seadweller, and one of my Scruggs' in the background.

I don't know you, but I find it hard to believe that a guy who claims to be wearing a Daymatic would endorse the Players brand. I like watches, too, but I don't have anything crafted by A. Lange & Sohne. My experience with people who actually do, though, is that they are brand conscious. The Players thing doesn't add up.

Lange 1.:)

My very first cue is a Players cue and I still have it. The Players cue signature is my little jab at those people that list what cues they play with and own.

Don't forget your super bowl ring!

Nice Sea Dweller, reference 166600?

I like the SD because it doesn't have the cyclops but it sits much higher than my Submariner that I have. Great watch for an everyday beater.

I have a vintage '84 GMT Master with a flatter case-back and it sits much lower. I don't wear it often because it is outfitted with an acrylic crystal which is prone to scratches.

No, mine is the 16600, the Seadweller model before the Deepsea model.

I understand 2014 brought a re-release of the my regular Seadweller, numbered 116600.

Believe the 166600 is the new V series Deapsea model.

I went through a song watch phase, few Rolex, bunch of Omega, a Panerai or two...the usual. I got over I though and settled into a watch that just works for me. Nothing that would impress most watch people, but it's a solid and decent watch (Omega SMP 2254.50) and I've been happily wearing nothing else for the last 8+ years. I still get great joy putting it on every morning and I couldn't be happier with it.

It is my hope to find my cue equivalent of that. It took me a bunc of buying and selling watches to get there but I'm much happier having settled into something. It's my hope that the Runde I have on order will be that cue for me.

Anyway, I think the difference is that, on average, most people buying watches have the income that they can absorb the hits and they sell for what the market will bear so things keep on moving. Many people buying cues are "investing" a large chunk of their disposable income in a fancy cue so when it comes time to sell and the market is soft they're unwilling to take the hit to drop the price to meet the market. So we see cues sit.

I like watches and I like cues, I don't want to collect either though....just want to find that one that I can live happily with for a long time.
