Cues with internal plastic joint?

The only cue I have seen with an internal plastic joint w/ wood exterior is mike woolridges cues.
Where else can I find these type of joints?

Regardless, are there any pool cue makers that make these type of joints for 5/16 or 3/8 to be able to play like a collared cue.

I don't really see why any one would bother to do so.
There is already too many joints to choose from.
