Hello,
I'm new to the forum. Hope I’m in the right section.
I have just gotten back into pool after being absent for 40 years and have joined the APA. Have been doing well, but find I would like to get a new cue. I have a Poison Strychnine ST-2 with a 314-2 shaft and the feel is just not there for me. (Got it on the cheap) I don't know if it is the Ghost Joint, or having a weight in it (it is tight)or just the tip (stock). Back when I started playing back in the 60's, I don't remember weights in cues.
Looked at Zinzola and played with one. A very nice and worth the price, but more than I need.
I like the look of the Samsara's Playing and Jump Break Cues but have weights. (Basic Models) (Would love to try one, any comments on them)
I'm in S.W. Virginia NRV and Tommy Reed makes a very nice feeling cue. Has weights but seriously considering one.
Questions;
1-What Brands or Cue Makers have weight less cues & preferred cues with weights.
2- How do you find a cue to try and find custom cue makers cues to try with out hopping on a plane.
3- Poison Strychnine ST-2 with a 314-2 shaft – Did I just get the wrong cue for me. (SL6)
4- Should I get off the no weight kick?
5- Plain or fancy, what’s the difference? Why draw attention to ones self, or why not?
Just curious.
I have read the forum about tips so I will not ask.
Oh! I like around 19.5 oz and I guess I’m leaning toward a custom cue, but not firm on that decision. Looking in the $500.00 ish range on playing cue unless weight less and would spend a little more. Still thinking on jump break cue.
Thanks for any answers or links in advance.
Hope everyone has a great holiday season.
Jeff
