Trying to decide between a Hightower/Unique repair lathe. Unique sent me his (Cue Companion) video to view his product in action-which I promptly returned after viewing--nice machine.

Hightower will only send video with $50 (option to buy) charge. Any chance of borrowing a video(mid-size,mcs II,mcsIII) for a preview of this product in action? I want to be comfortable that I can do what I see before a purchase is made. It's like buying a cue without hitting it...I will be purchasing a lathe at VF.

I'll gladly include the cost of your postage when I return it.

Thanks, Tom.

Hightower's video is shot on the cuesmith deluxe (the cuebuilding lathe), not on the midsize or smaller.
Hightower's video is not just an introduction to his lathe; it is an instructional video on basic cue building. That's probably why he doesn't offer "loaners." The video replacing tips, ferrules, wraps, shaft reconditioning, joint work, turning butts and shafts from scratch with and without taper attachments and more.
The techniques remain the same on the cuebuilding lathes and is well worth the price for the knowledge. You'll find it helpful no matter which cue lathe you go with.

That said- it was pretty cool of Unique to send you a "loaner."

Best of luck,
Beau

The videos are well worth the money, even if you don't buy the lathe. If you are concerned about $50 now, just wait until you buy the lathe. The $3-$4,000 you will spend on the lathe will be a very small portion of what you will end up spending once you get it.

Tony's right

The real amount of money involved is ,to say the least serious!!!Taps , drills, wood ,ferules, pins ,''yikes'' the list is long .But well worth it when things go right....:D
