CueSmith Lathe Video ...

Nice work Willee, tell me did you remove the compound cross slide on your deluxe or did you get it that way? I like those type QCTP. Is that from A2Z cnc? I need to get a replacement one yet. Also nice retro fit of a veriable speed dc motor. Good to see that those items can be done with ease.

thanks for the video.
Jim.

Jim, Kinda poor quality but I am learning iMovie.

That is one of the A2Z holders.
I had to make a 1.4" spacer for it to mount at the right height.
The one problem with it is that it wont move toward you enough on the y axis. I will post some photos.

The 1/2 hp DC motor and controller is the one offered by Penn State Industries.

It is a hodgepodge of parts but finialy it is done.
The Mounting bracket is from Brainna and the pulley from Chris Hightower.
The big rubber belt is the one that Unique Products uses on their CueMaker lathe and it is smooth, quiet, and transfers a lot of power without slipping.
A properly grooved pulley for the larger belt would be ideal.
I think Brainna is working on a DC motor retro fit kit for this lathe.

Great stuff Willee, thanks for sharing. I agree on the A2Z qctp, you have to adjust it her and there. Kinda wonder if the cross slide was bigger, could it be more accurate with less movement. Mine has a little shake to it, tried adjusting but no success. Thanks for the movie, real nice mods for a great lathe. Tony

I remember when you just started building this setup- looks good Willee. Didn't this start out as a sanding setup? I like the dust collection setup attached to it.

Just wanted to post a short video of my CueSmith Deluxe boring a hole for the "A" joint. One of the most critical cuts in making a cue is getting the bore for the handle tenon true so the handle will be dead on center.
The CueSmith makes it look easy.

I can't get it to open. A pop up says that it is a program that windows can't open. What am I doing wrong?

Mine went straight to iTunes and played. I'm on a macbook although it shouldn't matter one way or another.... Thanks for posting Willee.....
