Cuestore.ca Worrying Signs..... Edit problem solved false alarm

Edit...Turns out the owner was badly sick and away from the office for a week. He is getting the shaft out in the next couple days and upgrading to a better tip for the trouble. He was nice and apologetic. Problem solved.

Anyone had any trouble with this site? I have ordered from them multiple times and have not had an issue until now.

About a month ago I ordered an Ob2+, paid for faster shipping and received it 2 weeks later. First annoying issue but understandable. Then after 2 days of playing the tip falls off, especially annoying since I paid extra for a better tip. Took it to my cue repair guy who is really well respected in Ottawa. He says he won't even put a tip on it, there is something wrong with the shaft send it back. I send them pictures and they say they would need to see it in person to determine what's wrong and to send back. Which I do.

They received it a week ago and I have heard nothing. I have sent them multiple emails, voicemails, called about 10 times never getting through and now their voicemail plays a French only message after the initial message which I assume means mailbox full since it hangs up on you after it plays.

It just has the feeling of the beginning of being screwed over. Am I jumping the gun? Seems to me this is terrible business practice when so many things have gone wrong in a transaction and they can't even keep me updated or return and email or voicemail.

Thoughts?

Do you live in China? The .ca would indicate they are in China. So I'm guessing that shipping would take longer from there.

China? Really? :slap: Where they speak a lot of French:grin-square:

Stop stressin the cat out!

To the OP- I imagine the retailer needs to send the item to manufacturer for warranty determination. I agree that the status should be communicated to you though.

Keep after them! Though I think you will...

Did they list the OB2+ in stock? I know the OB folks are having a tough time meeting demand, the wait could have been for them to get the shaft to send. Simetimes fast shipping is just that, fast shipping, not faster wait time to get it shipped.

The tip issue though, if the top part of the ferrule fell off, that is an issue. Did the repair guy say what was wrong with the shaft?

If you can't get a hold of them, open a claim with your card issuer, assuming you paid with a credit card, they will ask you some details, maybe a copy of the emails and should credit you with the cost of the shaft.

I did this with something my wife ordered online, they sent us the wrong item and never answered calls or emails to exchange it. I called my bank, they issued me a temporary credit that same day, and after a couple of letters they sent looking for details I got my money back.

It did look like the top part of the ferrule fell off, but there was no peace of it on the table or still on the tip. It wasn't a completely flat surface though, it was hollow in the middle, which is why the repair guy said it fell off in the first place and will continue to.

It didn't say if it was in stock or not. But that's what I meant by understandable, I get they have to go through someone else, just wish it was made more clear.

I guess I may have to open a claim like you said. I'll wait till Monday and see if they get back to me I guess. Just weird since I have made multiple orders from them before and haven't had a problem, and they were even quickly responding to the issue originally, and now have just disappeared for a week.

The tip is glued to a carbon fiber pad which is glued to the ferrule. In your case the glue between the pad and the ferrule failed. When this happens, some of the foam in the end of the hollow shaft gets pulled out. To fix it, the hole should be filled with epoxy, leveled, and a new pad and tip installed. Here's a link to the OB page: http://www.obcues.com/pages/OB-Shaft-Carbon-Fiber-Pad-Replacement.html
Whoever sold you the shaft should take care of the repair under warranty.

Interesting, thank you

They way it's made (and I know because my OB+ tip broke off on Tuesday LOL), there is that hollow wood ferrule, then there is a 1 mm or so top on that, and the tip goes on that top. The reason that you can't see is that that top pad is probably on the tip still. That hollow part is not the reason the tip fell off, but there are a few reasons why it may have. When they changed the tip they torqued it a bit too much and seperated the glue which fully seperated when you started to use it, or it was just a quality issue on that shaft from OB when it was made. It's not an issue that the shaft is messed up, it seems like the cue repair guy is not aware of how the OB shafts are made.

In the post he said "he paid extra for a better tip".

I read this also on the link above about replacing the pad "Always move the tool from right to left, or towards the lathe chuck. Cutting away form the lathe chuck can loosen the carbon fiber pad and cause the pad to come off later."

The guy that put that "better tip" on may have cut the wrong way and lossened the pad causing it to come off.

Know nothing about cuestore.ca but you apparently are in Ottawa and the
Mailing Address
Internet Cue Store Inc.
PO Box 534
Rockland, ON K4K 1K6

is in your neighbourhood.

Seems to me that someone around your local pool scene might provide some insight more reliable than what you will get here. :D

I can't speak to extremely recently, but I did deal with them in late November 2014 and I have dealt with them maybe half a dozen times over the years, all with excellent results. They were also very good about my cancellation of an order for Simonis in March last year.

To the OP - do they have a storefront (as they are very close to Ottawa)?

Gideon<----Hopes this gets resolved to the OP's satisfaction
