Ow boy, I even fear to post a review on this because I know many people grew up hating Cuetec. To be honest, I felt I needed to because I saw many people react that SVB isn't playing well against Earl because he owns a Cuetec... To be honest, I have tested one of the new generation Cuetecs and it may not be the finesse of a Scruggs, but it's definately not as low level as it once was.

I bought an Arrow cue some time ago when I was short on money. The cue was around 200 bucks, to give you an idea what we're talking about.
Well, the cue itself... it has inlays, and to be honest, the machinery can rival the more expensive production brands, even Predator to give an example.
The butt's slightly slimmer, so it takes getting used to. The shaft, it ain't a fiber shielded shaft anymore, No, seriously, deflectionwise, I wouldn't say they have found something to rival a 314², but I have to say the shaft plays great. It has less deflection than any normal shaft (it's 4 piece radial shaft) and it's more towards the stiff side.
In my opinion, I know that liking a cue depends of preferences, but I do think that these cues are now worth taking a look at and deliver great value for the money.

i agree the new gen cuetecs play a lot better. however, from what i've seen cuetec still has some quality problems:

some issues with warping...i think they are using wood that hasn't been seasoned enough
lots of issues with the joint facings being off
sometimes pins are off too

for the price of some of the r360's i expect a little more. they're still using a lot of plastic, cheap ramin wood, and decals (although some parts are inlays). this may be a personal preference, but i feel their cues are way too butt heavy. it doesn't help the r360 shafts are on the light side either.

So far, about warping, I guess I'm on the lucky side. Mine's still straight. I even have to say at one point it accidentally fall right into the metal edge of the table. And not even a ding through the varnish. I was impressed by that.

What you say about the joints, you could be very right about that though. I have some friends who also own new gen Cuetecs and when we switch shafts, we notice the metal ring of the shaft doesn't match the shaft equally well. It's off by a few tenths, nothing big to worry about though. And it should be universal since you can order extra shafts. So indeed, Cuetec may not have succeeded in that area yet.

About that weight, it's preference too. But most of the new gens got accuweight, so you can take some bolts out. Personally, I have always hit with light cues, I even took the bolts out. The balance is pretty good then. Maybe with more bolts in it, I can imagine the balance getting all messed up because of the light shaft indeed.

warped

my R 360 shaft warped too. was gonna get a different shaft but all 4 of their 360 shafts were warped. Im sure they wouldve warrantied it but whats the point LoL. Got a refund and got something else.
