curved follow through on break

When I break my follow through mark on the table doesn't stay straight. It goes straight for about 6 inches then hooks left. I don't know why, I must be moving off of the table as I follow through.

I have noticed this with other players as well.

Is this a problem that needs to be corrected? If so, how?

I am still hitting the balls square, but it would be nice to see a nice long straight follow through trail. Thoughts?

Is your elbow dropping causing the tip of your stick to raise and possibly go off track?

There will be other folks more knowledgeable that will respond on here, but thats just the first thing that came to my mind.

I got an xbreaker and that break cue leaves a clear white mark like no other tip. I was blown away to see curves to the right AND the left.

It was good though and it woke me up so the marks have gotten straighter now that I'm aware.

I've not noticed this for me on the break, but maybe because you're right handed? I have a similar issue on regular shots as my follow through makes my right hand hit my body. If continue with the stroke, the right hand will follow right up the taper of my upper rib cage making the tip travel to the left.


Watch your right (grip hand). Does it have to clear your body on extreme follow through? For right handers whose body gets in the way of that follow through, the right hand must move to the right and possibly cause the tip to veer left after contact.

watch nick varner's break closely, watch any top players break. pool strokes move laterally, ive been saying this for years and nobody believe me, thats fine. but you can really see this lateral movement when players break.
