cushion hieght for snooker tables

I'm thinking unless it's flatt L77 rubber wouldnt it be 62.5%the hieght of the ball to were the point of the rubber needs to be? I have never done a snooker table just taking a SWAG at the answer. English snooker balls are 2-1\16" dia. and american are 2-1\8" dia.

What i'm curious about is how do you finish the pockets ie. curved facings. I know there are premade for pointed rubber but never seen any for the flat Lshaped rubber?

First, one would need to know what kind of snooker table it is. American or English. Then what profile cushion. The pocket openings on a real snooker table are ground out to a template. The template can easily be made from an existing snooker table providing a route to follow. Of course like with pool tables you can make them tighter. I had one in my poolroom that was so tight the US Snooker champion who played on it quit. Hi run on the table was only 8 balls. Pockets were 3 inch and that is what I modeled my GC V table after.

Snooker balls come in dif sizes also so depending on what table your playing on you may need to adjust accordingly. Mostly I am talking about American rubber vs the size of ball you may use. Also had another snooker table in my room that I put new cushions on that used 2.25 snooker balls on a 6 x 12. Just sick.

When making the pocket openings it is suggested that you grind these out by hand and not a belt sander for obvious reasons.

Craig, On a snooker table, there is no facing. Since the rubber terminates
at the front of the pocket, the end of the rubber is not exposed. As OTLB
stated, we have metal templates to shape the rubber. You glue up cushion as you normally would, except it gets glued up all the way to the
front of pocket, then we use a template to mark radius on cushion, the
belt sand to your line. Since the rubber is square, you are not applying a
angle to the cushion, just keeping it square. Its actually pretty easy!

If you use a belt sander and have it one second too long in place, well I guess you know what the expression is. Be careful if you use one. Wrapping the corners and sides is really not that hard either and I agree with Scruffy. I would say it is harder than pool rubber replacement and would rate the job 1.5 - 2 staples. Would also suggest using Northern rubber. As in a previous post showing black cushions on a Diamond table they also use it on their tables but with pool profile.

The table is AE Schmidt. The cushion profile is K55. And they did grind them. I was planning on using snooker bends. I'm not sure what size balls, I thought were only 2 sizes, 2 1/4 and 2 1/8. Thanks for the input.

Thanks guy's now I know who to call on when I get one again.. I always running ideas on how to doit I was close in my way of thinking but wasnt to sure.

OTLB your GC5 is sick looking I have played on tight snooker tables were you had to jump the ball into the pocket or slam it hard if ti touched the side it was out.

Hardtimes in Bellflower had a tight snooker table.

Donny, Those schmidts at D&B are really not a true snooker but a american
version which uses a 2 1/4 ball with a standard cushion height. Using the
snooker bends on them will be fine.
