Custom Amboyna/Ivory Cue

hi again

To be fair to him Mika already put many of the cue specs on his first post or repost. So that made me eager to find out how he builds his cues since he was really a good apprentice. Has he a different style etc? Does he have a name or brand etc?

So I did some asking around since Tony's cues came up in threads and found out that me makes cues under Jazz Cues (signed) and Tony Bautista (signed). I guess since he does cues in 2 "brands" he would have a different way for each right? So is Mika's cue a Jazz or a Tony Bautista? If its not signed, is it a prototype for a cue line or something? These small things help in appreciation of the cue imo.

In any case, if Mika says that the matters on Tony's cue construction or "style" or "philosophy" will be placed in his website (as it is in other websites) then I'll be content to wait for it. Thanks. ;)

Geeeez, 2 back to back post. Thanks for realizing this soon and for being fair. You should have read the thread before making any post. :)

Now to answer you...

Yes, the cue is signed by the cuemaker, Tony Bautista.

Mon, asking me if the cue is signed or not is not a question for me. But your sudden interest with my cues brings out my curiosity and makes me think , Why are you suddenly so much interested to know more about the details of the cue.

Hmmmmm, I know that you owned several US custom cues and you do not own or use any Phillipine cues makes me wonder?

May I know what’s in it for you? You always mention on your last 2 post that by asking these queries, it will be beneficial to prospective buyers of the cue, etc. etc.

FYI, I communicate thru my buyers via PM. And I would prefer to explain all the details to them and not to you.

Suggesting to have the cue tested and compared to others by a CREDIBLE/NEUTRAL entity like the ACA is the best way to answer all your questions and validate the claims.

Just in case you forgot, I am no cuemaker, no pretender, no con artist but just a simple and honest cuedealer.

My willingness to have the cues tested extensively and compared to other 1st rate "well known" Philippine made cues is also an execellent thing to do in order to answer if the cues are 2nd rate or not. These of course will only be possible if all 2 conditions are met.

Monski, I smell something fishy on your sudden interest to my cues. You have been posting consistently on the other threads. Then out of the blue, here you are trying to throw me all these questions. You could have send me a PM instead if you really are sincere on your intentions.

C'mon, you know very well how Tony does his work even when he was still with his former boss. What percentage of work Tony does in the cues, etc..

Sorry, but I just don’t trust you. I feel that you have a hidden agenda.

You know what? if you are the last person in this forum, still I won't sell my cues to you. Even if you triple the price or whatever.

We have known each other since 2001 thru one our common friend. So please stop it. All your questions will be answered soon.

One more thing, since you mentioned that you made a "research" about the cuemaker then I suggest that you continue to do so. That would be the best way to answer
and satisfy all your "curiosity".

Good day! :)

PS-About the ACA thing, this is what I really want to happen. This challenge would answer once and for all the questions and probably unlock the "mysteries" behind Philippine custom cues in general. This would separate the facts and
fictions. ;)

a lot of trouble for 1300

I don't think sacraficing a cue would be the answer. An x ray would show as much I beleive as having the cue apart. Just box 1 up with a 100 dollar bill and send it to southwest texas. I know a guy that will check it out and report back to the forum. The 100 bucks is for his time not a bribe. Personally I think a couple of you guys are making a big deal out of this for whatever reason. Surely the cue is put together as well as a 500 dollar production cue isn't? I'm not taking sides just jumping into the middle.

Hi again

Hi Mika

Actually I lost interest in the cue since you did not answer my pm on price. I just let it go.

I came into the picture because wanted to difuse the issue when you were getting all defensive with another guy re post deletion and all (Of course you can always say that you don't need any help, specially from me. So fine). I saw how Tony worked but that was during his time with our cuemaker friend. So I wanted to know if he did it the same way with your cue or did he have another method.

BTW (on Philippine made cues), I own and use 2 Edwin Reyes Cues. I also used to own a Linds cue which a friend bought because he loved the design and the hit. So, I like Philippine made cues too. Maybe I'll buy from Tony when the opportunity allows me to meet up with him.

I don't mind if you don't sell to me. I won't take it personally. Thanks and good luck on your website. And I won't post on this thread anymore. Thanks again. ;)

I just read the thread here and just saw a sad state (reality) of some Philippine Cuemakers. I see quite a few on ebay who have their names on cues e.g. Vince Cues but aren't cuemakers. I've talked with him personally and he doesn't build cues but has the cues build by good CMs and, not by just one maker but from several shops.
These people are businessmen not cuemakers. It would be ideal if the cuemakers sign their names on the cues but such is not the case sometimes.
Still a lot of hardwork to bring back integrity to philippine cuemaking but the road has been paved by Bandido and not to mention a few out there.

Yes, its true. Tony Bautista is one of the real cuemakers for Vince cues and also his elder brother Al Bautista.

It is very nice to see that some people are bringing back the INTEGRITY of Philippine cues. Be proud in showing the craftmanship of the "REAL" CMs behind the cues that you see in the net.

Separate the true Philippine CMs from scammers or pretenders. CMs that can REALLY build cues. Not supervise or instruct.

Should there be a cue making challenge in the Philippines just like in the "IRON CHEF" TV show. Where materials and equipment for cue building will be readily available. You might be surprise to find out who really are the "TRUE CMs". That is only possible if the those "true CMs that they say" will accept the challenge.

I know a lot CMs will be raising eyebrows on me since I am just a new cuedealer and not a CM. But what the heck, I am just a simple honest dealer of cues made by real CMs.

I think the time of the true CMs to come out from "detention" have arrived.

I agree.
I don't think the IRON CHEF thing would work out.
Maybe a reality show for cuemakers would be better :D

I did not received any PMs sent by you. Thanks also

Thanks Monski for your effort of trying to reach me and patching up things.

I really appreciate your efforts.

By the way, to all posters who want to see how Tony works please visit the Cue gallery section. Monski posted some of Tony's on going projects.

Thanks
