Custom and High End Cues on the Decline?

There are alot of things that people collect that don't appreciate in value, I don't have the desire to collect cues, for me they are the most important tool I use in my pool game, I enjoy the art and precision in building a custom cue I just don't have the desire to invest in owning a cue that I won't use to play, I love the cue I own, it feels like it was built for me.
Who says you cant play with the cue? My everyday player is probably $7 - 8k

Well, I've been looking for the thread on show us that 30k pool cue thread. And you know what that 30k pool cue looks like? It looks like this..

Lots of love on this one

I hope you're kidding - its a POS bar cue beat to piss
Not just any bar cue.
It's thee bar cue!. Out of the 10 or so bar cues to pick from its the one everyone goes looking for.
Sure, it's old and beat up ( I say it has character) but it's a great player and has held up to the abuse. And all those dings? Well it's been played with so much that the dings have been worn back smooth...
It's the perfect cue to go and hustle with. 😉

I wish I was smarter back then.....
funny you said that, I wish we've had a better financial adviser. during that time we've talk to some investment firm that was more interested with clients that can shell out 300k with other investment/stock options. we only had a seed money for 10k. if we only had access to info like what we have right now than back then.......

in any pool room, we always look for that one lucky bar cue.

That’s great. Are you nervous about it getting stolen? Do you take it with you when you go to the bathroom?
There's a guy here in Harrisburg who slings his case over his shoulder with his cues in them every time he heads to the bathroom. He usually plays with a Nitti, Southwest or Scruggs so I don't exactly blame him.

For what it's worth, I'm 30 and really appreciate the aesthetics of cues. I find the sea of plain looking Predators to be pretty boring.

That being said, the custom cues I see usually don't look more interesting than the higher end production cues from companies like Meucci, Joss, Jacoby, etc. I would still probably get one if I had the money, but I don't and likely won't for a long time.

I treated myself to one of the "budget" Meuccis and I love it, the ANW-1 in rainbow finish. My next reward to myself (maybe if/when I become an APA 6) will likely be one of the flashier Josses.

I love Joss, have about 30, all different time periods.

If your "Treating" yourself focus on a gold label from the 80's but if you have been really good get yourself a Block Letter from the 70's.

Trust me your getting a better playing cue and something that is borderline custom!
