I would like to order a custom cue with 4 points with veneers. I would like to know if there is a place on-line or otherwise where I can go and pick color veneers combinations in order to come up with the "perfect" color combination of my liking. In other words try before I buy or have built so that I know what the cue will look like before it is built. This will assure me that the color will look correct together and not just something that i try to visaulize in my head. In addition I would like to know what is the best material to use for the ferrule as I would like a ferrule that is as scratch resistant as possible, one that will stay clean.

Kevin, I've seen some stuff on here people have done in Autocad and Photoshop that was pretty impressive. I'm not quite sure how they went about it and neither program is cheap. As far as the ferrule question I think ivory (what I have on my upper end cues) or Ivor-X (hearsay for the most part but a friend does have them and they seem excellent) ferrules are the best for both of your criteria. Hope this helps.

Ivor-x ferrules seem to fit that bill. Some cuemakers can email you pictures of woods, veneers, inlay designs, etc before you decide on your custom cue.

I wish I had more time to work on photoshop-ing cues, but finals are right around the corner  If you're not in a hurry, my last exam is Dec.17, so I'll have time by then to do some drawings. Here's one of my best ones so far:

ivory ferrules are the best to keep clean and shiny.

as for you color choices,,,,viewing any color online won't even give you a good idea. my suggestion is choose your cuemaker, then call him and ask him if he can send you swatch samples of all his veneers. there are varieties, including different thicknesses. when you get the samples, just try your own combinations.

this is the ONLY way to see what you want, imo

Ditto on Jack's comments... he is currently making me a cue right now. I think I spent a total of an hour on the phone with him discussing my design, not to mention about 100 emails going back and forth and a LOT of pics.

Does anyone know where to obtain the thicker type veneers. I have samples from Wood River Veneer but they seem to be very thin. Who has thicker veneers?

i would think any cuemaker should have all kinds available. however, thin is in, and a cuemaker told me(years ago) that the thin ones are from germany. the old fashioned veneers were thick, so maybe you can ask an old cuemaker. scruggs, mottey, etc

Go to www.josscues.com Click onto cues and then click onto "Create a Cue" it might give you some ideas based on all the options that are laid out there.

I am a member of the Yankee Club and on the Thursday night league Team 1.
They have the best tables with the toughest pockets of anywhere I know in the tri-county region. Who are you and what team or club/bar are you playing for?

I'm Rick and I shoot for Dillons in East Berlin on Tuesday nites. Your right about the tables. They are the best I've shot on in public. If I lived closer to York I would join the Yankees. Lot of good shooters there. Guess I'll just have to be content with the Hanover Eagles.

Sorry about the long delay in response. This is one of the slowest sites I frequent and I normally just browse the latest posts when I'm on.

Regards.
