I might regret bringing a specific name up, as I don't want to come across as bashing, but Barioni cues have the largest gaps I've seen aside from the 2-point Meucci's. I'm sure it's done on purpose, and that's just a style thing that some seem to like. Not really my cup of tea though.
It really depends if you like slender points or fat points I suppose. Not really right or wrong, although getting the gaps really close to touching is probably more difficult.
