Custom Cue - Tom Reed.

I've read a few cue maker threads who haven’t kept up their end of the bargain with delivering cues. I thought I’d post one which went perfectly.

I posted in a thread a while back about the possibility of having a curly maple thread. Tom Reed (treed) said he could do it and i got in touch with him to put an order in.

Communication throughout the process was fine. He answered whatever questions I had. He didn’t ask for money until it was complete which was nice also.

Being from Australia, its a worrying thought sending money to the other side of the world without the option of knocking on someone’s door should something go wrong, though the cue arrived after payment as well as combine shipping an Alex brick break cue which he didn’t have to do.

I’m very thankful and am impressed with his work.

Thankyou Tom, all the best.

Here's a few photos of his work.

Cheers.

Dave.

Very nice hit.

Nice weight. Well balanced. I'll have to get used to hitting with a smaller diameter shaft again but I feel confident using it.

It's hard to leave it in the case and continue to use my old cue. Got the league finals this weekend and was thinking I should use the cue that got me through the year.

tom is a great friend of mine and does great work. He is one that can be trusted. looks like a great cue

i'm happy that the cue arrived in the condition that it left me,i have heard horror stories of shipping cues.it was a pleasure doing business with dave on this cue,i hope he enjoys many moments of success with his new cue.

Tom is a good friend and I hang out at his shop a lot. I watched this cue develop from the day it was ordered until the day it was shipped. If anything the photos don't do justice to the "pop" in the curl and the color. Also, you'll notice that in addition to the Predator shaft, the second shaft is a custom curly maple. Tom has made quite a few of these shafts and they look great. The curl really looks good under the table lights and they play good too. Gives a nice option if you're not into laminated shafts. Anyway, I agree with the others here - Tom does great work and his cues play great too. As a side benefit, he will pretty much walk you through designing your own cue if you have something in mind instead if having to pick a stock design. He also does repairs (including some stuff I thought could not be fixed at all) and has good deals on leather wraps. I play one of his cues in walnut, quilted maple and ebony and am planning on another one.
