I own a one of a kind custom cue and had to have it refinished as it had a fairly nasty ding in the forearm. Since I could not get a response from the original builder, at the time, I had another "reputable" cue builder refinish it. When I received it the signature was forged!! The original name included a date and the "new" name did not have a date and it was obviously forged!! The cues value is approximately $ 1700.00. How much value is lost with the forged name on a cue??

PS It is now in the hands of the original builder to be corrected..

If the original cuemaker refinishes and resigns the cue, there is not a big problem. However if there were other alterations like replacing a butt cap, or even changing the pin, now you are talking about items that are more or less permanent. Also how was the ding removed? What caused it? If a ding was "filled" it might count as work not done by the original cuemaker. But on a current cuemakers cue, I don't think the value is affected greatly either way.
